Financial Stability - How Funds are Handled

The Giftback® card processes all funds directly through a registered public 501(c)(3) non-profit Donor-Advised Fund. In doing so, we provide our partners and customers with the security of knowing that their funds will always be available for allocation by the end user and recipient of the card. To illustrate this security and the long-term stability of the Giftback® card, we have outlined how money generated through the purchase of cards is handled.

The Giftback® Card. Support your favorite charity, choose from over 1 million.

DAF Fund - A Donor-Advised Fund (DAF) is a charitable giving vehicle set up under the tax umbrella of a public charity, which acts as sponsor to many Funds. A Donor-Advised Fund offers the opportunity to create an easy-to-establish, low cost, flexible vehicle for charitable giving as an alternative to direct giving or creating a private foundation. Donors enjoy administrative convenience, cost savings and tax advantages by conducting their grantmaking through a Donor-Advised Fund.

The funds are deposited into an escrow account for charitable donation in the future deemed by the card holder. Business operating funds are always deposited into a sepearte bank and bank account, so it is clear and transparent that any operting cost are not used from the donation fund account.

We charge a upfront fee to cover the costs of the cards along with the distribution and redemtion portal, this ensures that the redemtion of the cards will be working in the future.

Dedicated to creating tools and services to make charitable giving part of our everyday lives, Giftback® is company whose mission is to connect individuals with the non-profits of the world by providing them with innovative tools to incorporate giving into everyday activities like shipping and interacting online.

To provide the best possible security and stability for our customers' donation funds, Giftback® has established a strategic partnership with the Donor-Advised Fund (DAF) JustGive. Through its operations as a DAF, Just Give has passed through over $80 million for tens of thousands of charities.

As a public charity, JustGive is subject to an annual audit each year by an independent accounting firm. Each year their auditor reviews the reserve kept for outstanding charity gift cards and has been monitoring it very closely as the sale of charity gift cards grows exponentially.

After donations are made, you can track donations through your own Giving History. All donations made through the Giftback® card automatically go into your Giving History, especially helpful around tax time.

The donation is secure and private. When you donate online through the Giftback® card you control the use of your name. You decide if you want the charity to have your name.

You get a tax summary. You can print out a statement summarizing donations made through the Giftback® card so you can claim the right amount during tax time.
