Whole Foods Corporate Responsibility Goes Global

Written by Deborah Merkin | 05/06/2015

Whole Foods Market is taking their corporate responsibility beyond their high quality, all natural foods and working to solve global poverty. Whole Planet Foundation was borne out of Whole Foods Market’s desire to give something back, while focusing on the persistent problem of world poverty and hunger. The Whole Planet Foundation and Whole Foods Markets have hosted a series of small community events throughout the country like craft fairs and concerts and have raised $4.6 million toward a microlending campaign, no no plans to slow down any time soon. Whole Foods Market corporate responsibility is all about making a real impact, so the campaign was focused on providing impoverished people and communities real tools to overcome their circumstances. However, Whole Foods Market did something else throughout this campaign, they brought communities together to strive toward a common goal. Community involvement helps to empower rapport and reputation. Additionally, as you bring the community together and have a captive audience you can share the impact of this program that starts small but has a big impact. The microlending program has funded 1 million microloans in 62 countries across 4 continents. It's a textbook example of starting local and thinking global. Whole Foods Market is influencing their community in a positive way, has a global impact and builds a real relationship with its shoppers beyond the aisle.
