The Spring and Summer holiday gift giving season is already upon us. And in case you didn't know this and maybe missed Mother's Day you've got some serious brownie points to earn back. So what's the 'hot gift' this season? Well it might be easier to shop for that special someone than you may have thought.In a recent survey The Retail Gift Card Association (RGCA) found that two-thirds of U.S. shoppers plan to buy gift cards for this seasons well-known occasions like weddings, Father's Day, graduation and also some overlooked but definitely important events like teacher appreciation day. When asked about the types of gift cards they would be buying the answer varied by the occasion and the recipient.
Graduation: Gift cards to online marketplaces, fuel cards, like the Speedway gift card, and department stores cards were a go-to.
Weddings: Retail gift cards were at the top of the list for these love birds, followed by department stores and home improvement stores.
Father's Day: Home improvement stores probably don't surprise you as the top choice for these guys.
Teacher's Appreciation Day: 85% of survey respondents indicated that they would be purchasing gift cards as a present for their favorite teachers this year. Popular gift cards were to restaurants and online marketplaces.
