Here’s a corporate health and wellness case study that we think has some great new ideas peppered into it. Xceed Financial Credit Union’s in-house event and promotion team research wellness programs from across industries and designed their own program, which includes:
- Weight loss
- Physical fitness
- Personal growth
- Environmental awareness and efforts
- Community involvement
The committee established a points incentive system, in which accrue points for various healthy activities, like healthy cooking, participating in team sports, carpooling, gym workouts, and donating blood. As you can see from this model, their program includes involvement outside of “ones-self”; promotes healthy behaviors for the body AND mind. The incentive they offer is $300, awarded to each person who attained 1,000 points at year’s end. President and CEO of Xceed Teresa Freeborn stated, “It feels good to contribute to the health and well-being of our associates.” She went on to tell the Credit Union Times, “We want to do all we can to help stabilize insurance costs, which is why we’ve invested in our own custom wellness program. Any reduction in insurance fees could then be passed on to our associates.” Almost half of the participating employees, 56 of the 128, attained the 1,000 points. GiftCard Partners’ corporate customers offer their rewards in the form of gift cards that include healthy choice cards, like
CVS/pharmacy®,
Nutrisystem®,
SUBWAY®, and more. These gift cards not only offer a great incentive, but also round out the healthy message. Source: Credit Union Times Online
