Employee enagement is on the rise around the world, and this is great news for employers everywhere. Engaged employees give their all to their organizations and break records for productivity and employee loyalty. Here are some quick facts from the newly released Aon Hewitt study on employee engagement that surveyed more than 6,000 organizations in 155 countries.
- From 2011 to 2013 employee engagement averaged a 3% increase, which may not seem big, but given the large sample size of the study, that's a positive trend.
- The top three drivers of employee engagement were career opportunity (and professional development), managing performance (having competent managers who can guide employees through their careers) and organizational reputation (if you're reputation is good you will attract engaged employees).
- A "culture of engagement" where organizations work together to accommodate all employee needs, rather than trying to prescribe a blanket engagement solution for all employees.
